Meet Our VIP - Tamara Campain

Posted by Tamara Campain for Equus Emporium on 27th Aug 2015

First off I’d like to formally introduce myself, my name is Tamara Campain and I am a Young event rider based on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Equus Emporium for inviting me to join their Team and I am very much looking forward to working closely with them and promoting this fantastic company!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me and my team of horses and it’s only going to get busier! Last year I was lucky enough to be awarded the title of Victorian Young eventing rider of the year from July 2014 to July 2015. A few weeks ago we had the amazing Equestrian Victoria awards night held at Crown (it was so nice to be out of Breeches and boots for a night) where I handed over this award to the new very deserving winner, Sam Jeffree. Sam is a wonderful role model for the sport and I wish him all the best over the next 12 months and hope he gets as much out of the role as I did!

Since this awards night, all my efforts have been devoted toward getting my team of horses fit and ready for their first comps of the new eventing season. I have two horses heading to Friends of Werribee horse trials this coming weekend (29th&30th of August), and both are stepping up a level so the aim of the weekend is to get these two young horses home safe and sound and hopefully build their confidence in order to have two highly competitive and successful horses for the future. Lambourne Park Academic, who I rode at FOW at his first ever eventing start 12 months ago is in the EA105 class, and Balerion is in the EA 95 class.

A week later I am back up at Werribee for the Equestrian Victoria fundraiser horse trials where I will be taking two different horses. This time riding Rockingham Tiggeriffic in the 1* class and Willowood Midnight Diva in the EA 80 class. Diva is having her first eventing start in close to 2 and a half years, to say I’m excited to have her back out competing is an understatement!

Luckily after those two crazy weeks I have some time off to catch up on some washing, teach some of my fantastic students and work some younger horses before final preparations are made for my trip over to South Australia in late September with Rockingham Tiggeriffic for the PCA National Championships. If anyone is interested in keeping up to date with not only my Journey throughout the week of nationals, but my whole team of horses then head over to the “Tamara Campain Eventing” Facebook page. Here you will also be able to see the awesome products that I use on my horses and myself from Equus Emporium.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend with your wonderful horses. Let’s hope we get some spring sunshine soon!

Until next time,

Tamara Campain x x
